ETHIOPIA YIRGACHEFFE ARICHA
The Yirgacheffe region is considered one of the powerhouses of Ethiopia. Coffees from this region tend to lean toward fruity and floral profiles. We’ve been sourcing coffee from Aricha village for some time and find it especially suitable for beginners using AeroPress and V60. For espresso, however, it can be very vibrant but trickier to extract. Sweet blueberry and crisp red apple show up in both the aroma and taste. TThe body is dense and juicy, similar to ripe melon or papaya.

KNOW YOUR LOT
Every number — and every note — behind this coffee, published. Tap a metric to see what it means and why it matters.
Where this coffee comes from
Known as the birthplace of coffee, Ethiopia has one of the world’s richest and most diverse coffee-growing traditions. Its coffees are celebrated globally for their distinctive and complex flavour profiles.
Where within the origin it was grown
Yirgacheffe is one of Ethiopia’s most renowned coffee-growing regions, celebrated for its distinctive and highly expressive coffees. Its unique growing environment has made the region a benchmark for Ethiopian specialty coffee.
Who grew or produced this coffee
This coffee is produced by multiple smallholder farmers, with each contributing small lots that come together to form the final coffee. This model reflects the collaborative nature of many coffee-growing communities.
The coffee variety grown / What this blend is made from
A mix of varieties developed by Ethiopia’s JARC research program and traditional landrace varieties that have evolved naturally over generations, reflecting the remarkable genetic diversity of Ethiopian coffee.
How high this coffee was grown
Grown at 2,100 metres above sea level, the cooler conditions at this elevation slow coffee cherry development, allowing more time for complexity and character to develop in the cup.
How the coffee was processed after harvest
In natural processing, coffee cherries are dried whole with the fruit still surrounding the seed. This extended contact with the fruit often produces sweeter, fruit-forward flavours and a fuller, more expressive cup.
How far we developed the roast
A light-medium roast balances the coffee’s natural character with added sweetness and body from roasting. It preserves much of the coffee’s origin-driven complexity while creating a more rounded and approachable cup.
How we think this coffee shines best
This coffee is best enjoyed as a filter brew, allowing its flavours, aroma, and complexity to unfold with greater clarity in the cup. Methods such as V60, Chemex, or other pour-over brewers are ideal for highlighting its character.
