KNOW YOUR LOT
Every number — and every note — behind this coffee, published. Tap a metric to see what it means and why it matters.
Where this coffee comes from
Uganda has a rich coffee-growing heritage and is one of Africa’s leading coffee-producing countries, with its diverse landscapes contributing to a distinctive East African coffee identity.
Where within the origin it was grown
Located on the slopes of Mount Elgon in eastern Uganda, Bugisu is one of the country’s most established Arabica coffee-growing regions. Its mountainous landscape and long coffee-growing tradition have made it an important part of Uganda’s specialty coffee identity.
Who grew or produced this coffee
We work directly with smallholder farmers at origin, collaborating closely on processing and quality to bring out the best in their coffee. This hands-on partnership gives us greater involvement from farm to cup while supporting the people behind each harvest.
The coffee variety grown / What this blend is made from
SL14 is valued for its resilience and strong cup character, while SL28 is prized for its exceptional quality and complexity. Together, they contribute to a coffee with a distinctive and expressive profile.
How high this coffee was grown
Grown at 1,700 metres above sea level, the cooler conditions at this elevation slow coffee cherry development, allowing more time for complexity and character to develop in the cup.
How the coffee was processed after harvest
Ripe cherries are handpicked and carefully laid out on raised African drying beds under the sun for 3 weeks to naturally concentrate sweetness.
How far we developed the roast
A medium roast aims to balance the coffee’s natural character with sweetness and body developed during roasting. It creates a rounded, approachable cup while still allowing the coffee’s inherent qualities to come through.
How we think this coffee shines best
This coffee is roasted to perform well across both espresso and filter brewing, offering enough structure and intensity for espresso while retaining the clarity and character needed for filter.
