Neither of us started out loving coffee.

Ashjeet found it by accident, scouting agricultural commodities across Africa. Sukhjeet actively disliked it — his only reference point was instant coffee: bitter, dark, forgettable.

Then one Saturday, everything changed.

The Cupping That Started It All

Sukhjeet walked into a room full of people hunched over bowls of coffee, smelling and loudly slurping it like a wine tasting. He was told it smelled like berries and jasmine.

That sounded ridiculous — until he tasted it. The flavors were actually there.

How can coffee taste like this? That one question never let him go.

We Didn't Start in a Café. We Started on a Farm.

We come from three generations of agricultural trading, not coffee. Our father spent decades sourcing pulses, cashews, and sesame across Africa — so we grew up asking what most roasters never do: who grew this, and why does it taste the way it does?

When we turned that lens on coffee, it clicked. Countries we already sourced from — Uganda, Ethiopia, Malawi — were some of the world's best coffee-growing origins. That's our edge: we're not relying on a broker's word. We go to origin ourselves. You can't sell what you don't understand.

Why Brew Crew Is Different

• We buy direct — straight from farms and cooperatives, not five middlemen. Fresher, more traceable, more honestly priced.
• We roast for you, not for competition scoresheets. A 96-point microlot means nothing if it's not what you'll enjoy on a Tuesday.
• We refuse the "specialty tax." Rare coffee costs more — that's fair. Overcharging for an everyday cup isn't.
• We're founder-led, not franchise-run. The people roasting your coffee are the people who built the brand.

What We Actually Believe

A rare Panama Geisha is exceptional — but if you drink cappuccinos every morning, a chocolatey Brazil might make you happier. The real question isn't "is this a good coffee?" It's "who is this coffee good for?" Farmers deserve fair value for real work. You deserve fair value in the cup. Both, always.

We're still the ones tasting, sourcing, and roasting every batch ourselves. Success was never about selling the rarest coffee in the room — it's watching someone take a sip and think: that's exactly what I wanted.
